Uguem Rising Club defeated Guardian Angel SC 3-1 to secure a place in the final of the 2nd Vaidya Family Intervillage Football Tournament, organized by Cuncolim Union and held at the Cuncolim School Ground on Tuesday.
The first half remained goalless until the 36th minute, when Rutik Bandodkar put Uguem Rising ahead with a precise finish after receiving a through pass from Prathmesh Gaonkar. Just three minutes later, Gaonkar doubled the lead with a powerful strike that left Guardian Angel SC goalkeeper Oswin Rodrigues with no chance.
Guardian Angel SC pulled one back in the 51st minute when Regan Costa converted a pass from Daniel D’Costa, briefly reducing the deficit. Uguem Rising quickly regained control, with Prathmesh Gaonkar scoring his second and the team’s third goal from a setup by Ashwon Menezes, sealing a comfortable 3-1 victory.
Prathmesh Gaonkar was named Man of the Match and received the award from Roney Borges. In the final, scheduled for January 26 Uguem Rising will face Canacona Sports & Cultural Club.
