Rossman Cruz Nagoa defeated Wilfred Leisure, Curtorim 2-1 to enter the semifinals of the United Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament organised by United Club Telaulim at the Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.
The match began at a slow pace with both teams trying to gain control of the game. Wilfred Leisure, Curtorim created early chances but failed to convert, with Anslem Fernandes and Anthony Fernandes missing three scoring opportunities.
Rossman Cruz Nagoa capitalised on a counter-attack just before halftime, when Desmond Pereira found the net to give his side a 1-0 lead at the break.
After the restart, Rossman Cruz Nagoa doubled their advantage. Joasle Fernandes made a run down the right flank and delivered a cross which Clive Fernandes controlled well before slotting the ball past Curtorim goalkeeper Johnson Bogot.
Wilfred Leisure, Curtorim pulled one back later in the match through Anslem Fernandes to make it 2-1. In injury time, Ryan Fernandes had a chance to equalise for Curtorim but failed to convert.
Myron Fernandes, goalkeeper of Rossman Cruz Nagoa, was named Man of the Match. The award was presented by Joe, popularly known as “Gold Man.”
