Rosary Boys Zoriwaddo, Davorlim registered a hard-fought 2-1 victory over hosts Rebello Pandal, Maina to enter the quarterfinals of the 19th Rebello Pandal All Goa Football Tournament at St. Rita Church ground, Maina-Curtorim, on Tuesday.
Rosary Boys took the lead early in the match when Prince Figueredo scored in the 10th minute with a neat placement past Rebello Pandal goalkeeper Jeet Gupta. Rebello Pandal had a chance to equalise before the break, but Samson failed to convert the opportunity, leaving Rosary Boys with a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Rosary Boys extended their advantage in the 40th minute when Richie headed the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
Rebello Pandal managed to pull one goal back in the final minute of regulation time through Edwin Sequeira, but Rosary Boys held on to secure a 2-1 win.
Despite the defeat, Rebello Pandal goalkeeper Jeet Gupta was named Man of the Match. The award was presented by former footballer Filip.
