The Goa government plans to introduce night bus services through the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL), Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho informed the Assembly during the ongoing Budget session.

Replying to an unstarred question tabled by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, the minister said the proposed night operations are intended to facilitate industrial workers working in second shifts and also support tourist mobility. It would be implemented after receiving buses under the PM-E Bus Seva Scheme.

“The night services would commence once new buses are inducted into the fleet under the central scheme,” he said.

Regarding the performance of the government’s Mhaji Bus Scheme 2025, Godinho stated that public transport connectivity has improved since its introduction. At present, 31 private buses have been registered under the scheme across Goa, providing last-mile connectivity to interior villages such as Carambolim, Muskaure, Akhada, Pollem and Kisqon, etc.

However, the minister added, the buses currently operate only till 8.25 pm and no late-night services are available at present.

Providing further details, Godinho said a total of Rs 12,07,271 has been paid to private bus owners under the scheme so far. The conductors on these buses are deployed by the respective private bus operators and no fresh recruitment of conductors has been carried out by KTCL under the initiative. Regarding persons with disabilities facilities, these buses have 1x2 seats reserved for PwD.
