MARGAO: United Club of Verna outclassed Cuncolim Union 3-0 to secure a place in the semifinals of the 31st Mandopa Cup 2026, organized by Mandopa Sports Club at their ground on Tuesday.
UC Verna struck early in the 2nd minute as Eli Rego broke through the defence and beat the goalkeeper to give his team the lead. Mecklito D’Costa doubled the advantage in the 16th minute, while Viraj Velip of Cuncolim Union missed a chance to pull one back before halftime.
In the second half, UC Verna created several scoring opportunities, and as the match neared full time, Mecklito D’Costa completed his brace to seal the 3-0 victory.
Mecklito D’Costa was awarded the man of the match award by Luis Vas in the presence of Avelino Silva.
