The Vedanta Ultimate Badminton League (UBL) wrapped up after two days of intense competition and exciting performances. Organised by the Goa Sports Club and the Goa Badminton Association, with Vedanta Sesa Goa as the title sponsor, the 5th edition of the tournament has firmly established itself as one of the key sporting events in Goa.
The final day of the tournament at the Peddem Indoor Stadium, Mapusa, featured two thrilling matches. In the third-place match, Flying Gravity narrowly defeated Ace Raqueteers with a score of 150-148. The grand finale was just as exciting, with Sparkling Stars edging out Asher’s Smashers 150-147 to claim the championship. Parth Joshi and Om Nandanwar of Sparkling Stars were named the "Pair of the Match" for their stellar performance in securing the title for their team.
During the closing ceremony, top officials from the Goa Badminton Association and the Badminton Association of India were present to award medals, trophies, and mementos to the top players and teams. A cash prize of ₹5 Lakhs was given to the winning teams and their owners.
The league, which featured six teams and over 160 players (including 15 from outside Goa), has become an important event in the state's sporting calendar. With the support of Vedanta Sesa Goa, the tournament continues to provide a platform for local talent while contributing to the development of badminton in the region.
