Aamdar Chashak cricket kicks off at Porvorim

The Aamdar Chashak league cricket tournament for men and women was inaugurated on Wednesday evening by Tourism and IT Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte at the Salvador do Mundo ground in Porvorim.
The four-day tournament kicked off on May 21 and will continue till May 24. It has attracted more than 70 men’s and women’s teams from across the Porvorim constituency. The finals are scheduled to be held on Sunday.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by ZP member Sandip Salgaonkar, Amit Asnodkar, Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar, Sonia Pednekar, Porvorim BJP Mandal president Vinit Parab, panch members, participating teams and cricket enthusiasts.
Ahead of the tournament, the official trophy and jerseys of the participating teams were unveiled at ART Park, Porvorim, marking the formal commencement of the event.
Addressing the gathering, Khaunte described the tournament as a celebration of sportsmanship, unity and youth talent. He said the enthusiasm among players and cricket lovers reflected the growing sporting culture in Porvorim.
Organisers Porvorim Rising have appealed to cricket fans and local residents to attend the matches in large numbers and support the tournament, which is expected to draw sizeable crowds over the next few days.
