MARGAO: Ambelim Sports Club produced a dominant second-half performance to defeat Laxmiprasad SC 4-0 and secure a place in the final of the Under-14 GFA Girls Football Tournament.
The opening half was tightly contested and ended goalless, with both teams displaying strong defensive organisation. Laxmiprasad SC pushed forward in search of an early breakthrough, but Ambelim’s backline — Avan Velip, Saima Pagi, Kanchan Velip and Reeva Fernandes — remained resolute to keep them at bay.
Ambelim stepped up the intensity after the break, showing greater attacking intent and control. Their efforts paid off in the 36th minute when Vardhana Velip calmly slotted home to give her side the lead.
The momentum quickly swung in Ambelim’s favour as Elora Crasto doubled the advantage in the 40th minute with a composed finish. Just six minutes later, Uriel Fernandes produced a fine individual effort, weaving past defenders before finding the net to make it 3-0.
Ambelim capped off an impressive display in the 55th minute when Valaika Monteiro delivered a precise cross for Elora Crasto to score her second goal and seal a comprehensive victory.
