Calangute Veterans booked a place in the grand finale of the 23rd All Goa Veterans Tournament with a 4-2 tiebreaker win over Ilhas Veterans at the Flame of Unity Sports Club ground on Sunday.
Despite persistent rain, both teams displayed grit and determination. Calangute dominated possession in the first half through Robert and Allwyn, creating chances for Seby, while Ilhas goalkeeper Ishwar made key saves. With the score locked at 0-0 after regular time, the match went to penalties. Calangute converted all four spot-kicks through Allwyn, Robert, Seby, and Fausto, while Ilhas managed only two, courtesy of Ramesh and Neville.

Uguem Rising in Areal P'yat Cup quarters
MARGAO: Uguem Rising Club secured a 5-2 win over FC Siolim to reach the quarterfinals of the Areal Panchayat Cup at Padribhat ground on Sunday. Lawrence Fernandes opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Rutik Bandodkar dominated with a four-goal haul (21’, 31’, 45’, 49’). FC Siolim’s Akshay Mandrekar (24’) and Vipul Patnekar (29’) scored, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Uguem’s emphatic victory.
