Calangute Veterans registered a solitary goal win against Fatorda Veterans to emerge champions at the All-Goa Veterans football tournament, organised by Mix Friends at the Santa Cruz ground, recently.
In a closely-contested match where both teams refused to give an inch, Calangute had the last laugh with Robert Fernandes scoring the only goal of the match.
The following individual prizes were awarded: First scorer of the final: Robert Fernandes (Calangute), best goalkeeper: Mario Aguiar (Calangute), best defender: Escobar (Calangute), best striker: Mithun (Fatorda).
Fr Richard Pinheiro, parish priest at Holy Cross church, St Cruz, was the chief guest for the final.
