Dempo Sports Club put in a resilient performance to earn a 1–1 draw against NorthEast United FC in the Reliance Foundation Development League 2025–26 at RCP Ghansoli Ground on Wednesday.
The hosts started brightly, dominating possession and creating early chances, particularly through the flanks. Their pressure paid off in the 42nd minute when Tanbir Dey displayed excellent composure to curl a left-footed shot into the top corner, giving NorthEast United FC the lead.
Dempo, however, responded strongly in the latter stages of the match. Their persistence was rewarded in the 85th minute when Murphy Fernandes controlled the ball outside the box and fired a precise strike into the bottom corner to restore parity at 1–1.
Despite Dempo’s dominance in the second half, NorthEast United remained organised and disciplined in defence. Their goalkeeper played a crucial role, producing important saves in the closing moments to preserve the draw.
In the end, NorthEast United held firm under pressure, while Dempo were left to settle for a point despite their strong second-half display.
