The Goa Football Association will organise its Awards Night on Saturday, June 3 at Taleigao Community Hall to recognise the achievements of the players and officials during the season.

The Awards Night caps a memorable season as 14 leagues were conducted by the association despite a late start to the season, due to delayed elections. At the Awards Night, the organisers who helped the GFA organise the matches will be felicitated while the prize money of the previous term (2018-2022) will also be disbursed.

President of the GFA, Dr Caitano Fernandes stated that despite starting the season on November 1, the GFA organised 826 matches in seven months to complete all Leagues. "What I thought was impossible when I took over, became possible. I am thankful to my entire Executive Committee, club officials and organizers who have helped us in achieving this feat".

The Chairman of the Competitions Committee and Senior Vice President Anthony Pango informed that this season, the GFA organised 4 matches a day on average and there were a record 16 matches held on two occasions.

"I am thankful to FC Goa, Sesa Football Academy, Dempo SC and the Government of Goa for providing us grounds to organise these matches in such a short duration of time. The GFA organised 826 matches across 27 grounds and 7060 players took part in the 14 competitions this season," stated Pango.

With regards to the financial situation of the GFA, the president informed that when he took over, the association was Rs 71 lakh in deficit with prize money not disbursed for the last four years.

The GFA spent around Rs 1.30 crore towards organising the leagues this season, Fernandes said. "This year we spent a total of Rs 1,30,06,000 towards the organisation of the leagues. We also organised two new age-group tournaments for girls in U-14 and U-17 categories".
