The much-awaited 5th edition of the Masters Table Tennis Champions League (MTTCL 5.0) is set to light up the Rustic Rose Hall, at Peddem, with a spectacular display of skill, sportsmanship, and Goan camaraderie.
Organized by the Peddem Sports Club, the championship brings together 12 Professional teams and 72 veteran paddlers, all selected through a spirited auction process held earlier at Hotel Green Park, Peddem — a glamorous event that added a professional flair to the proceedings. With a total prize purse of ₹1 lakh, along with trophies, special prizes, and individual awards, MTTCL 5.0 continues its legacy of blending competitive intensity with a vibrant celebration of Goa’s table tennis community.
Speaking about the tournament, Mayur Sawkar, Organising President and Vice President of the Goa Table Tennis Association, said, “The MTTCL has become a movement of fitness, friendship, and passion for the sport among our veterans. It keeps them active, motivated, and deeply connected to the game. Many of our players are also giving back, by mentoring youngsters, organizing inter-school events, or supporting grassroots development through local clubs. Our next step is to introduce something similar for the younger generation, and we’re already working on making that a reality. The enthusiasm of our veterans inspires us to dream bigger for Goa’s table tennis future.”
This year’s 12 participating teams include Dempo Royals (Owner: Yogish Dempo, Captain: Sachin Soares), Desserts & More Avengers (Owner: Sagar Salgaonkar, Captain: Amit Naik), Diya Enterprises (Owner: Manoj Sardessai, Captain: Clyde Barreto), Tuff Security (Owner: Francis Viegas, Captain: Joseph Sequeira), Vicky 10 (Owner: Vikesh Harmalkar, Captain: Satish Agrahar), UK Ultra (Owner: Umesh Kambli, Captain: Noel Noronha), Suzuki BN Thakur (Owner: Pushker Thakur, Captain: Sandeep D’Mello), Saxtti Sports and Cultural Club (Owner: Pradeep Bhende, Captain: Deepak Gopani), Burye Enterprises (Owner: Gaurish Burye, Captain: Arun Naik), S.S. Caterers (Owner: Pradeep Shetye, Captain: Shawn Soares), M&S Titans (Owner: Marc Cordeiro, Captain: Bonny D’Costa), and Royal Ruby (Owner: Satyam Thakral, Captain: Niraj Kannure).
The championship will be held in a league team format on Sunday, October 26, at the Multipurpose Stadium, Peddem.
