Goa State Civil Services chess tournament generates buzz ahead of FIDE World Cup

The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs organized the State Civil Services Chess Tournament at the Campal Indoor Stadium, Panaji.

Rohit Kadam, representing the Personnel Department, emerged victorious in the Men Category, successfully defending his title.

The tournament saw enthusiastic participation from various government departments across the state, showcasing the intellectual prowess and strategic thinking of the 57 participants.

Rohit Kadam's win is a testament to his exceptional chess skills and dedication to the sport. The Director of Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs Dr. Ajay Gaude while presenting the Certificate and Trophy congratulated Shri. Kadam on his achievement and encouraged other participants to continue honing their skills.

The event aimed to promote chess and provide a platform for government employees to engage in healthy competition, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship. Omkar Asolkar from Department of Commercial Tax stood second while Prashant Narvekar of Urban Development Department has managed to secure third position.

The tournament's success reflects the growing popularity of chess in Goa, and the Directorate looks forward to organizing more such events in the future.

State Winners will be deputed to participate in the All India Civil Services Chess Tournament to be organised by Central Civil Services Sports and Cultural Board New Delhi.
