Goa’s newly formed franchise Goa Guardians will make their much-anticipated debut in Season 4 of the Prime Volleyball League (PVL), powered by Scapia, which commenced on October 2.
The Prime Volleyball League, one of India’s fastest-growing sports properties, has expanded to include the Goa Guardians as the 10th franchise, reflecting the state’s strong sporting culture and deep-rooted love for volleyball. With a growing fanbase and a clear vision, the Guardians aim to not only make a mark in the league but also contribute to India’s long-term ambitions in global volleyball.
Goa Guardians have set their sights beyond just seasonal glory. The franchise envisions building a world-class talent pipeline, coaching ecosystem, and infrastructure—with the bold goal of helping India emerge as a competitive force on the Olympic volleyball stage within the next decade.
T.C. Jothish, head coach of the Goa Guardians and a seasoned name from Kerala, expressed strong confidence in his squad ahead of the season.
“The team is preparing very well. We’re focusing on building chemistry through formation training and team bonding. The squad is strong, well-balanced, and determined. I believe we’ll definitely compete for the title this season,” said Jothish.
He also highlighted key players including Prince Malik, Chirag Yadav, Aravindhan, and two talented foreign recruits, adding, “I have full confidence in this group.”
Chirag Yadav, 25, an explosive Outside Hitter from Haryana and last season’s Emerging Player of the Year, is optimistic about the Guardians' chances. “This team is incredibly balanced. We’ve bonded well and are ready to compete at the highest level,” said Yadav.
“Goa has been very welcoming. Time here flew by. Watching the sunset with the team at the resort has been my favourite experience,” he added. “This season, I want to win the Best Player award and help Goa Guardians lift the trophy. I urge our fans to support us—we won’t disappoint.”
Prince Malik, 27, a Middle Blocker also from Haryana, shared his excitement about being part of the Guardians' inaugural season. “It’s been a great experience so far. People here are incredibly friendly and supportive. Though Goa is known for beach volleyball, we were thrilled to see fans turning up even for indoor practice sessions,” said Malik.
“The understanding among players—including our foreign teammates—is excellent. I believe in this team and we’re all committed to giving 100% on the court.”
