Goa and West Bengal played out a goalless draw in their Group A clash of the 30th Senior Women’s National Football Championship for the Rajmata Jijabai Trophy 2025-26 Final Round. The match took place at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Ground in Narainpur.

Despite creating several scoring opportunities on both ends, neither side managed to break the deadlock. The first half saw resilient defensive efforts from both teams, with the defenses successfully thwarting multiple attempts on goal.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with both teams missing a number of clear chances, some of which were particularly glaring.

Goa’s head coach Alfred Fernandes expressed mixed feelings after the match. While he praised his team’s performance, he admitted his disappointment over not securing a win.

“It feels really good to coach this team. Our players showed great desire and fought hard,” Fernandes said. “My only disappointment is that we didn’t manage to win. It’s not a bad result, but we deserved more. What makes me happy is the way the players performed on the pitch.”

Fernandes, who is still transitioning into his new coaching role, added, “I have been working closely with the players and I’m satisfied with their overall performance. However, if you don’t capitalize on the chances you get, it’s difficult to win.”
