The Goa Mavericks Sports Club is all set to host the second edition of its much-anticipated All-Goa Open Six-a-side Hockey Tournament for Men and Women at the Peddem Sports Complex in Mapusa on May 9 and 10, 2025. The matches will be held from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with games scheduled after 6:00 PM to be played under floodlights, adding to the spectacle.
A total of ten men’s teams and six women’s teams will battle it out in a league-cum-knockout format, promising two days of fast-paced and competitive hockey.
Adding prestige to the event, Indian hockey Olympians Mervyn Fernandes and Joaquim Carvalho will be in attendance. The hockey legends will also play a key role in selecting 12 promising young players from the tournament to represent Goa in an elite 8-a-side men’s hockey tournament in Mumbai, commencing on May 19, 2025.
The selected team will be fully sponsored by the Goa Mavericks Sports Club, in a bid to provide rising Goan hockey talent with exposure to top-level national competition.
The tournament is expected to draw large crowds and showcase the growing enthusiasm for hockey in Goa, while also opening doors for young athletes to make a mark on the national stage.
