The Goa Swimming Association (GSA) hosted a grand felicitation ceremony at Orzo, Navelim, in honour of Digambar Kamat, PWD Minister and MLA of Margao, to celebrate his election as a Bureau Member of World Aquatics 2025, representing the Asian Continent for the 2025–2029 term.
The event was inaugurated with a welcome address by GSA President Yogiraj Kamat, who outlined the association’s vision for nurturing swimming talent in Goa.
Digambar served as President of both the Goa Swimming Association and the Swimming Federation of India, playing a vital role in elevating the profile of swimming in India.
The Chief Guest, Monal Choksey, Secretary General of the Swimming Federation of India, lauded Kamat’s administrative skills and long-standing association with aquatic sports, stating that his inclusion in the World Aquatics Bureau would strengthen Goa’s and India’s global sporting presence.
The event was followed by a felicitation of swimmers and coaches from Goa for their excellence in swimming and diving.
Distinguished guests present on the dais included Auduth Timblo, Chairman of Fomento Group; Gurudutta Bhakta, President of Judo Association; Caitano Fernandes, President of Goa Football Association; Anil Madgaonkar, and Albert Colaco, former General Secretary of AIFF.
