A splendid brace by veteran Peter Carvalho helped Guardian Angel Sports Club, Curchorem drub Vasco Sports Club 3-2 in the GFA's Professional League, at SAG Trinity ground, Benaulim, on Monday. There was no score at half time

The game remained fiercely contested as both teams vied for control, each striving for a breakthrough. Despite numerous opportunities for both teams, neither side could capitalise, heightening the suspense of the match with each missed chance.

The first half concluded in a rather tedious manner, with both teams unable to break the deadlock resulting in a stalemate.

Crossing over, Guardian Angel Sports Club set the tempo with an ambitious attempt that signalled their intent to dominate the game. However, Vasco Sports Club broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when midfielder Velito D'Cruz's rasping shot crashed into the net. Stung by that setback, Guardian Angel Sports Club regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp and two minutes later Fulgenco Cardozo's well executed free-kick eluded the Vasco goalkeeper Nabakumar Ghosh hands down. After taking the lead, Angels intensified their efforts to go one to one attack and in the 65th minute Peter Carvalho's reverse kick found the net. In the 65th minute, Moises D Sa's flag kick found Peter Carvalho who showcased exceptional skills and Peter Carvalho headed in giving no chance to the rival goalkeeper in the 80th minute for Guardian Angel Sports Club

In the injury time, Moowin Bhat pulled one back for Vasco Sports Club in the 90 plus 3 minutes.

Elsewhere, at Duler Stadium, Alister Anthony rose from the bench and scored a fine brace as Sporting Clube de Goa fought back for a 3-1 win against FC Goa’s developmental side

Lemmet Tangvah (59’) broke the deadlock for FC Goa in the second half through a penalty. However, Doyal Alves (72’) equalised for Sporting and then Alister (79, 90+5) converted a penalty and netted his brace in added time with a fine finish.

With the final round to be played on Wednesday, Sporting climbed to the top spot of the standings. They have 46 points after 23 games. Sesa FA are second with a point less while Pax of Nagoa SC are third with 44 points and take on Sporting in the final round at Benaulim ground.
