Next Gen League Season 3 kicks off with expanded age categories and 11-A-side format

The King’s Sports Academy, in collaboration with The King’s School, Sao Jose De Areal, has officially launched the 3rd season of the Next Gen League (NGL)—an inter-school football and futsal league focused on development, match exposure, and nurturing young talent. Following the success of its previous editions in 2023 and 2024, this year’s league is bigger and more wide ranging than ever.

Season 3 introduces four new age categories—U-15 Boys, U-15 Girls, U-17 Boys, and U-17 Girls—which will all be played in the full-format 11-a-side football structure.

The league officially kicked off on June 24 with the U-15 Boys category, followed by the U-17 Girls, U-15 Girls, and U-17 Boys categories—all four formats launched between June 24 and June 30. Popular returning categories—U-6, U-8, U-10 (Futsal) and U-12 Football, all played in mixed boys and girls formats, will commence shortly.

This year in the currently ongoing categories, the league sees participation from schools across Salcete and Canacona, with 16 schools in the U-15 Boys category, 7 schools in the U-15 Girls category, 12 schools in the U-17 Boys category & 5 schools in the U-17 Girls category.

Scores are not published in the Next Gen League as the league emphasizes football development. Winning teams earn +3 points, losing teams receive +1 point, and a draw awards both teams +2 points.

In the U-15 Boys category, Fr. Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna earned the victory over Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal, with Meshwin Colaco being named Player of the Match.

The King’s School, Sao Jose De Areal registered a win over Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna, with Avner Fijardo delivering a standout performance. Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim won their match against AIM English Medium High School, Davorlim, thanks to Ashnoy Vaz’s efforts awarding him the Player of the Match title.

Our Lady of Succour High School, Verna emerged victorious over St. Anthony’s High School, Cuncolim, with Joseph Desa awarded POTM. Mount Mary’s High School, Chinchinim got the better of Immaculate Conception High School, Paroda, with Ashroy Fernandes taking the honors. Rosary High School, Navelim clinched their game against St. Anne’s Institute, Agonda, with Sean Pereira as POTM.

St. Joseph’s Educational Institute, Chandor took the win over St. Jude’s High School, Betalbatim, with Trinsly Menezes earning the POTM title. Lastly, St. Pius X Convent High School, Orlim beat Marina English High School, Verna, with a shared POTM between Alvish Pereira and Raja Bepari.

In the U-15 Girls category, The King’s School, Sao Jose De Areal won against Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal, with Analee D’Costa named Player of the Match.

Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna secured a win against Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim, with Erica Crasto taking the honors. St. Anne’s Institute, Agonda won against Fr. Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna, with Gwyneth Fernandes earning POTM.

In the U-17 Boys category, Fr. Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna won their opening match against Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna, with Valanco Fernandes putting on a stellar performance to bag thr POTM title. Infant Jesus High School, Colva earned a win over Rosary High School, Navelim, with Aniket Kumar as the POTM.

In the U-17 Girls category, The King’s School, Sao Jose De Areal secured a convincing win over Immaculate Conception High School, Paroda, with Valaina Fernandes being named Player of the Match.
