The Super Badminton League 2025, organized under the banner of Model Margao – an initiative by Yogiraj Digambar Kamat, marked a spectacular opening on World Badminton Day, drawing a tremendous response from sports enthusiasts and the local community, at the Fatorda Indoor Multipurpose Hall.
This initiative by Model Margao, in collaboration with Madgaon Shuttlers, Goa Badminton Association, and South Goa District Badminton Association, set a new benchmark in Goa’s sporting calendar, highlighting the power of community-driven sports and youth engagement.
The league began with a sporty and spirited welcome, as players raised their racqets in unison to signal the start of Goa’s first-ever real money auctioned badminton tournament.
The atmosphere electrified further with exhibition matches between former state-level champions — Vinayak and Roy vs Vaman and Narahar— offering a nostalgic yet competitive start.
Senior players were honoured in a gracious cake-cutting ceremony, celebrating their invaluable contributions to the sport.
Across two thrilling days, 15 league matches were played, with each team competing in 5 high-energy games. Out of six participating teams, Radiant Sports Club, Badminators, Antruz Warriors, and Margao High Flyers emerged as playoff contenders.In a stunning turn of events, Margao High Flyers, who entered the playoffs in 4th position, showcased resilience and skill to beat top contenders and stormed into the finals against Radiant Sports Club. With sheer determination, they clinched the championship title, emerging as the winners of the Super Badminton League 2025.
Winners & Runners-up: The Margao High Flyers, owned by Rohit Mehta and Ehrik De Ataide, led by captain Vishal Vernekar, lifted the championship trophy.The Runners-up, Radiant Sports Club, put up a strong fight. The team is owned by Dr. Ketan Bhatikar, Naveed Tehsildar, and Sidharth Revonkar, with Parag Chauhan as their captain.
