Big boost for infra, govt okays projects worth Rs 149 crore

The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) on Friday approved various developmental projects worth Rs 149 crore that included redevelopment of old government buildings in Margao like the Old Collectorate office and police headquarter. 

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired the 206th Board meeting wherein several important infrastructure projects aimed at public convenience, urban rejuvenation, and institutional development were approved for implementation.

The projects included redevelopment of old government buildings in Margao like Old Collectorate and police headquarters and upgradation of Sanquelim municipal market.

The Board also approved construction of new boys hostel at GMC at a cost of Rs 113 crore; demolition and Reconstruction of St Estevam bridge, estimated at Rs 21 crore, development of old Margao bus stand at a cost of Rs 12 crore and ancillary and maintenance works at Ravindra Bhavan, Sanquelim at Rs 3 crore.

A CMO statement said these projects are part of the government's commitment to upgrade civic infrastructure, improve public utility spaces, and build modern, accessible facilities for people

The statement also said that CM emphasised that GSIDC continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Goa’s infrastructure with quality and speed and that the government is committed to delivering timely and efficient public infrastructure for a Viksit Goa 2037.
