Parish Youth Nuvem secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda to advance to the quarterfinals of the 8th Martin’s Cup football tournament, organized by Betalbatim Sporting Club at the Panchayat Ground, Betalbatim on Wednesday.
From the kickoff, Parish Youth Nuvem dominated possession, keeping the Fatorda defence busy. Early in the first half, Drawin Colaco had a chance to open the scoring, but his header was safely punched away by Glen Fernandes, Don Bosco’s goalkeeper. Shortly after, Jef Barreto played a diagonal pass to Hanslum Furtado, whose right-footed attempt from the box went wide. Both teams remained goalless at halftime.
The second half produced several exciting moments, keeping the crowd on edge. In the 45th minute, Stanford Colaco of Parish Youth Nuvem found the breakthrough with a well-placed shot, securing the lone goal that sent his team into the quarterfinals.
Bernardo Ferrao of Betalbatim Sporting Club awarded Stanford Colaco the Player of the Match for his decisive performance.
