St. Anthony Football Club, Assolda edged past Shiroda Youth Club 5–4 in a thrilling tie-breaker to secure a place in the semifinals of the Fr. Agnelo Inter-Village Football Tournament. The tournament, organised by Fr. Agnelo Sports and Cultural Club, Paroda, is being played at the Panchayat Grounds, Avedem.
In a fast-paced quarterfinal, Shiroda Youth Club struck first when Reaphan Antao weaved past the Assolda defence to score in the 18th minute. Despite repeated attempts, Assolda struggled to break down the resilient Shiroda backline.
Assolda’s perseverance paid off in the dying minutes when Alton Vaz thundered in a long-range strike to level the score, forcing a tie-breaker.
In the tie-breaker, Vitorino Fernandes, Flizer Gomes, Reagan Costa, and Sheldon Fernandes converted for St. Anthony FC, while Royston Vaz, Placito Cruz, and Climax Fernandes found the net for Shiroda Youth Club, giving Assolda a dramatic 5–4 win.
