Super Goans Football Club edged past Betalbatim Sporting Club 4-2 via a penalty shootout to clinch the U-14 Boys Division II All-Goa title in the final played at Sinquetim Ground, Navelim, on Wednesday.
The summit clash witnessed an intense end-to-end contest, with both teams creating equal opportunities but failing to break the deadlock in regulation time. Super Goans came close when Aniruddh Kamat unleashed a powerful shot from inside the box, narrowly missing the target. At the other end, Betalbatim’s Jollan Colaco made a determined solo run, only to be thwarted by the Super Goans defence. The match remained goalless at full time.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, Super Goans held their nerve as Aniruddh Kamat, Gabriel Pyres Salameh, Tanishq Sutar, and Ajay Rathod successfully converted their spot-kicks. For Betalbatim Sporting, Dane Luke Rodrigues and Raunak Singh found the net, but it wasn’t enough to prevent defeat.
Dr Caetano Fernandes, President of the Goa Football Association, was the chief guest and presented the prizes in the presence of senior vice-president Antonio Pango and executive committee members Anthony Leo Fernandes, Constancio Paul Rodrigues, Cosme Oliver, Shubert Furtado, Andrew Ferrao, along with other dignitaries and parents.
