MARGAO: United Club of Telaulim advanced to the quarterfinals after registering a 3–1 victory over Wilred Leisure Sports Club, Curtorim in the UCT Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament, organised by the United Club of Telaulim at the Government Primary School Ground, Telaulim, on Monday.
Wilred Leisure SC made a strong start and took the lead in the 12th minute through Vesley Paes, ending the first half ahead.
After the change of ends, United Club of Telaulim staged an impressive comeback. Clinton Niasso scored two quick goals in the 37th and 39th minutes to turn the match in his team’s favour. Sam Pereira then sealed the win with a third goal in the 55th minute.
Clinton Niasso was adjudged Man of the Match, with the award presented by Mark Gomes, Treasurer of United Club of Telaulim.
