The foundation stone for the 12-bedded hospital attached to the Navelim Primary Health Centre will be laid on February 9 coinciding with the Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro’s second mega health camp in the village.

Addressing the media in the presence of Navelim Sarpanch Wilma D’Silva, Telaulim Sarpanch, Steven Goes and others, the Navelim MLA thanked Health Minister Vishwajit Rane for sanctioning the 12-bedded hospital at the Navelim PHC, saying he would like to lay the foundation stone for the project on February 9.

“This year, we have fixed the mega medical camp on February 9. I am happy that Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has sanctioned the 12-bedded hospital. Since all the formalities concerning the 12-bedded hospital are complete, the foundation stone will be laid on that day,” Faleiro said

Faleiro said his office is mobilising party workers and supporters for the success of the mega health camp since they are targeting around 3,000 patients this time. “It is a big challenge to organise such a mega health camp. If needed, we will organise transport facilities to ferry the patients to the camp venue and back home,” he said, while saying that the health and well-being of every citizen is the responsibility of the government, society and citizens.

He pointed out that the mega health camp was a big success last year with around 96 doctors and their assistants attending to patients, including a large number of senior citizens. “We had drawn doctors from GMC, Directorate of Health Services, dental college, ESI hospital, who had all cooperated generously for the success of the camp.

“Last year, the medicines had come from the DHS and the GMC. In fact, we had surplus medicines and which had to be taken back. We have a data base of 1,000 senior citizens, who will be our prime target for the ensuing medial camp,” Faleiro said.
