Officials of the Legal Metrology on Wednesday conducted a raid at the Colva beach following complaints of overcharging by the ice cream vendors there.
The team has initiated proceedings against two vendors after they were found overcharging the customers. The raid was prompted by numerous complaints lodged by customers regarding the excessive pricing of ice creams. “During the raid, we came across two vendors overcharging the customers. Hence, they were booked under the relevant provision of the rules,” an official said.
Meanwhile, the Department of Legal Metrology, South Goa, has urged people to call the mobile number 9403301977 to lodge their complaints of overcharging by unscrupulous vendors and traders. The service will be available round the clock, with the officials assuring complaints will be promptly addressed by the department.
