While this month’s temperature has been ranging between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius -- an evident decrease from last month’s range of 36 to 38 degrees Celsius, there's been a surprising gradual increase of 1 degree Celsius in temperature since May 6.

According to the IMD Goa forecast, both the temperature and the ‘heat index’ (feel-like temperature) are expected to remain within the normal range for the next five days; however, there is relief expected in the form of light to moderate pre-monsoon showers.

“Pre-monsoon activity has commenced in the southern regions of India, indicating an imminent expectation of rainfall in Goa. Light to moderate pre-monsoon rains are likely soon,” IMD officer Nahush Kulkarni said, speaking to The Goan.

Regarding the temperature, Kulkarni explained that although temperatures in May month -- considered a 'departing summer month' -- are comparatively milder than April, the discomfort persists owing to a heat load experienced between 10 am and 3 pm. “There’s a gradual increase of 1 degree Celsius since May 6. However, the maximum and minimum temperatures are still within the normal range,” he added.

The maximum temperature stood at 34.5 degrees Celsius while the minimum was at 25.5 degree Celsius on Thursday. As per updates late evening, the IMD stated that weather is very likely to be dry on May 10 and May 15 while light rain is likely at isolated places on May 11, 12, 13 and 14.
