The State’s interests have to be protected. Each State tries to protect its interests,” Paliencar told journalists on the sidelines of a press conference. rHowever later in the evening, Paliencar denied that he said such things. r“There will be no compromise or out of court settlement on the Mhadei case with Karnataka. This is the official stand of my department and of the Government of Goa,” Paliencar said. rEarlier in the evening while offering his ‘personal’ opinion, Paliencar said that money should not be wasted on the case. r“If there can be discussions for good. There should not be loss for us nor them and there are some decisions which are taken in the interest of the State that we will. Each State has their interest. They want something, we want something. We are ready to talk. I’m of the opinion that no State’s money should be wasted. At the end of the day we are part of the nation,” Paliencar said. rWhen pressed what out of court settlement be possibly arrived at especially since Goa’s stand is to not to allow Karnataka to divert any water, Paliencar began speaking about power generation before he was cut short. r“We have said that all the three States should come together. We have only one source that is Mhadei. That we cannot give is what we have said. But something else can be considered, if they set up a power plant… There is no discussion (for the moment). We can discuss. If in the discussions something positive comes out then it would be good,” Paliencar said. rLater in the evening he rrrSTRAIGHT TALK...rIt is my personal view that State’s money is being colossally spent (on hearings) this should not be.
