Usgao truck driver arrested
VALPOI: Valpoi Police on Thursday arrested a truck driver allegedly involved in the death of a 42-year-old native of Gokak-Belagavi in a road mishap at Keri dam near Chorla Ghat on Wednesday.
It may be recalled that Yellappa A Mestri died after he was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle at Keri dam. He was found lying dead near his motorcycle (KA-49-R-3966).
A Valpoi Police team led by PI Sanjay Dalvi traced the truck (GA-05-7476) from Usgao-Tisk at Ponda and the accused driver Umesh Morya of Usgao was arrested.
“The truck was inspected by a police scientific team, blood stains and flesh was founf on the rear right side tyre of the truck and it has been attached as evidence,” informed PI Dalvi.
Police said the accused driver admitted to having committed the crime. PSI Yeshwant Gawas, ASI Tulsidas Dhuri, HC Sadanand Kankubkar and PC Sujay Patil assisted PI Dalvi in tracing the vehicle.
