It was a lucky escape for residents of a flat belonging to Luiza Fernandes in Salvation Apartment in Vasco after a huge fire broke out in the flat in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Vasco Fire Station Incharge Dilip Bicholkar said the fire incident took place at around 1 am on Wednesday morning.
"The fire was on the first floor flat in the Salvation Apartment at Vasco and we immediately started the firefighting process. We immediately also removed two LPG gas cylinder from the flat and brought the fire under control after the second turnout using two vehicles thereby preventing the fire from spreading to surrounding flats,” said Bicholkar.
“We suspect the fire was caused due to a short circuit in the refrigerator and it spread to other items which were in the house during the incident. The losses could be estimated to be around Rs 2 lakh and we saved property worth Rs 10 lakh," said Bicholkar.
