Agitation over dredging today
PERNEM: The Keri-Tiracol-Palyem Gram Bachao Committee (KTPGB) will organise a one-day agitation in front of the Pernem Police station on Friday, to protest against the failure by police to register an FIR against a Mumbai-based company allegedly involved in dredging the Tiracol river.
The KTPGB will agitate in front of the police station from 9.30 am to 6 pm.
It may be recalled that the committee members, at a KTPGB meeting on January 10, had asked the Pernem Police to register the offence within 24 hours, failing which they would agitate in front of Pernem Police station.
Meanwhile, Narayan Soptekar from Keri has also threatened to agitate on January 26, in front of Pernem deputy collector's office, if the government fails to register an offence against the Mumbai-based company.
