A Police team from the Kaarveer police station in Kholapur-Maharashtra, on Saturday, took the suspended police constable Khwaja Ali Mainuddin of Katem-Baina on a transit warrant in connection with a fraudulent land deal.

According to Assistant Police Inspector R Neeranjan, the complainants, Hemant Powar and Mangesh Wagmare, both natives and residents of Kholapur, have filed a complaint against Mainuddin with the JMFC court at Kholapur about the fraudulent land deal in Goa.

Neeranjan stated that the deal was signed by Powar and Wagmare with Mainuddin and his accomplice for Rs 10 lakh for a land in Goa on August 31, 2015.

Neeranjan added that since the deal did not go through, Powar and Wagmare had filed a case in the JMFC court at Kholapur against Mainuddin and his accomplice from Kholapur.

Neeranjan further added that the JMFC court, Kholapur under section 156 (3) CrPC had directed the Kaarveer police to investigate the case.

Neeranjan stated that acting on the court order, a Kaarveer police team from Kholapur came to Vasco on Saturday afternoon and after contacting the Vasco police, sought the custody of Mainuddin.

Neeranjan added that under the transit warrant, Mainuddin will be taken to Kaarveer police station and on Monday will be produced before the JMCF court.

Neeranjan added that Mainuddin has been arrested under Sections 419, 420, 468 read with 34 of IPC.

It may be recalled that Vasco police had earlier arrested Mainuddin, who was posted with Goa Reserve Police Force (GRPF) on charges of threatening his neighbour at Vasco police station in February.

Police said Mainuddin was suspended on a previous occasion following a complaint by the same neighbour.
