The bail hearing of the prime accused in the infamous Bicholim Kharol murder case was postponed to January 30.

The bail hearing of accused, Dattaguru Sinari, which came up for hearing in the Additional Sessions Court, Mapusa, on Monday was postponed after Crime Branch, the investigating agency in the case, sought more time to file reply.

On Sunday, the Crime Branch had arrested the accused’s wife, Diya Sinari and his driver, Kishor Mahto and also seized the weapons used in the crime.

Both the Sinari brothers were arrested by Bicholim Police on December 20, last year after the first information of the crime came to light.

Bhagirat Kharol from Tivrem-Marcel had complained to Bicholim Police on December 17, last year, that the accused brothers, Dattaguru and Devidas had abducted his brother-in-law, Ratan Kharol at Amona petrol pump and confined him at a secret place to take revenge over previous enmity.

Bicholim police, who were probing the case found the headless trunk with both legs missing in Mhadei river at Pale on December 23, while the legs and the head were recovered by Mapusa and Anjuna police from two sites in Chapora river a day later.

One of the accused, Devidas Sinari who was a police constable had committed suicide by hanging inside the lock-up.

The case which was initially probed by Bicholim Police was later handed over to the Crime Branch.

The investigating agency had opposed his bail application saying it was premature.

Sunita Nagvenkar was the Public Prosecutor.

The Crime Branch team of Dattaguru Sawant, PSI Laxi Amonkar, PC Sachin Gaonkar, Chandrashekhar Pednekar under the supervision of SP Karthik Kashyap is investigating the case.
