CANACONA: The long-awaited new 7.7-4 km Canacona NH66 bypass connecting Char-Rasta and Maxem-Loliem was inaugurated on Friday and was named as the ‘Manohar Parrikar Canacona Bypass’ in honour of former chief minister later Manohar Parrikar.
In the absence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who was scheduled to inaugurate the project, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of State Babul Supriyo, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes inaugurated the bypass, which cuts short the distance between Canacona and Karwar by 13.7 kilometres.
