IMD Goa issues yellow alert; thunderstorms, gusty winds likely till April 2

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Goa for April 1 and 2, forecasting thundershowers accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph at isolated places across North Goa and South Goa.

According to the IMD, talukas such as Sattari and Sanguem are likely to receive showers within the next few hours.

The department’s forecast indicates light rainfall or thundershowers during late afternoon and evening hours over both districts- North Goa and South Goa, on Day 1 and Day 2, which April 1 and April 2.

For April 3, no weather warning has been issued; however, light rain is still likely during late afternoon or evening hours in parts of the state.

From April 4 to April 6, the IMD has predicted dry and mainly sunny weather conditions across Goa, with no warnings in place.

Over the next 24 hours, maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 33°C and 25°C, respectively, with partly cloudy skies and haze during morning hours in Panaji and Mormugao.

As of now, no heatwave warning has been issued for the state.
