In a major boost to the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) presence in Salcete, Congress leader and former Betalbatim panch Feliciana Falcao, along with 20 Congress workers, joined AAP on Saturday. The induction took place in the presence of Benaulim MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas, AAP leader from Nuvem Brian Rodrigues, and Benaulim Zilla Panchayat member Joseph Pimenta.
Speaking after joining the party, Falcao said the decision was driven by the need to unite against the BJP. “Today, only AAP is standing against the BJP on every issue — whether it is Gundaraj, hill cutting, bad roads or Mhadei. In 2022, we voted for Congress, but our MLA betrayed us and joined the BJP. This time, we will not repeat that mistake. A vote to Congress is a vote to BJP, and the people of Goa know that now,” she said.
Welcoming Falcao, Capt. Venzy Viegas accused the Congress of repeatedly betraying Goans. “Congress has betrayed Goa twice — first in 2017 and again in 2022. Their MLAs helped the BJP form the government, damaging Goa’s social fabric. This ZP election, Goans must defeat the unholy alliance of BJP and Congress and support AAP — the only party that stands for honesty and the people,” he said.
