Ponda dy collector holds meet to prevent illegal sand mining

Ponda Deputy Collector Shubham Naik chaired a meeting with various departments to discuss measures to prevent illegal sand mining and quarrying in Ponda taluka, in accordance with directives of the high court.

Those present at the meeting included Mardol Police Station Inspector Yogesh Sawant, Ponda Police Sub-Inspector Pratik Bhat, Coastal Security Police, Mamledar, Joint Mamledar, representatives of the mines department, directorate of transport, water resources department and other authorities.

During the meeting, directives were given to the officials to conduct regular inspections of the river banks and immediate action on any complaint.

Deputy Collector Shubham Naik said it would be possible to curb illegal sand mining through the cooperation and coordination between various departments.
