GSL launches 6th Fast Patrol Vessel for ICG

Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), launched the ‘ICGS Atal’, the sixth in a series of eight state-of-the-art indigenously designed Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) being constructed for the Indian Coast Guard.

The vessel was ceremoniously launched by Shilpa Agarwal, in the presence of Rozy Agarwal, IDAS, Principal Integrated Financial Advisor (PIFA), Coast Guard Headquarters, at GSL’s shipbuilding yard in Vasco.

The event was graced by dignitaries from the Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, Ministry of Defence, strategic industry partners, and GSL officials epitomising the spirit of collaboration and national resilience in defence manufacturing.

Speaking at the launch, GSL Chairman and Managing Director Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay said, “The launch of ICGS Atal is yet another milestone in our enduring journey toward a self-reliant India. This vessel reflects the indomitable spirit of Team GSL and its unwavering commitment to indigenisation, innovation, and excellence in shipbuilding, even amidst global supply chain challenges.”

The chief guest Rozy Agarwal lauded GSL’s robust execution capabilities and its pivotal role in advancing the nation’s maritime security.

The FPVs, designed in-house at GSL, are 52 metres in length, with an 8-metre beam and 320-tonne displacement. These high-speed assets are equipped to conduct coastal patrols, island security missions, and offshore asset protection, significantly augmenting India’s maritime domain awareness and national security.
