Firefighters rescued an 83-year-old man who got trapped in a lift on the second floor of a building at Alto-Betim on Wednesday morning.
Porvorim fire station received information at around 11.40 am stating that a person had been trapped in a lift at a building near Shantadurga temple at Alto-Betim.
A team of firefighters rushed to the spot and rescued Premanand Vaigankar safely from the lift.
Enquiries revealed that Vaigankar was trapped in the lift for nearly an hour, as he was proceeding to his flat on the third floor of the building.
The lift got stuck on the second floor and he started banging the lift door for help. Sandeep Gaonkar who was on the second floor heard the noise and notified the fire station.
A team of firefighters involved in the rescue operation comprised Prashant Sawant, Laximan Parwar, J Sawant, Sachin Gaonkar, P C Hoble, M P Naik and Rohan Naik.
