Amchem Daiz-12, the annual Konknni seminar, organised by the literary and cultural association of Rachol Seminary (LACARS) in collaboration with Goa Tiatr Academy was held on February 9, in the seminary auditorium.
Tamazinho Cardozo said, "Tiatr is the mirror of Goan society for whatever is reflected in tiatr is picked from whatever happens in society. The stage becomes a platform to discuss, bring out solutions and take concrete measures to solve particular issues arising in society and for this reason we call tiatr the mirror of society.”
Others present were comedian Augutin Temudo, Dr Alexio Menezes, the Rector of Rachol Seminary and Dr Victor Ferrao the animator of LACARS.
Dr Menezes welcomed and Temudo said that of late tiatr has gained a lot of respect in society and the same respect is bestowed on the actor’s acting. Dr Ferrao highlighted the traditional relationship between the Rachol Seminary and Konknni culture.
The day was divided into three sessions. In the first session the richness of Goan tiatr was explored through paper presentation. Sem Venancio Fernandes, Sem Aleston Vaz and Cialini Fernandes presented papers. The session was moderated by professor Cosma Fernandes of MES College Vasco.
In the second session, the problems arising on tiatr stage were highlighted and discussed. Pradeep Naik, William Fernandes and Anita Fernandes expressed their views in the presentations. Sharon Mazarello moderated this session.
The third session was a Konknni comedy act completion wherein students from 13 different schools competed. The chief guest for this session was Sandeep Ambe, comedian and director. The competition was judged by comedians Selvy Correia, Janet Fernandes and Richard Colaco, St Joesph HS won the first place followed by St Aloysius, Benaulim and Mae de Pabres, Nuvem.
Sem Fazer Vaz and Sem Clifford Fernandes compered while Sem Ashliff Corriea and Jollison Fernandes were part of the organising team. Sem Franky Fernandes, co-ordinated.
