PANAJI
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced that the State Government is actively working towards securing national-level recognition for tiatr, Goa’s popular and deeply-rooted theatrical art form.
"Tiatr has already made its mark in 28 countries across the globe," he said, adding that Goa University is currently conducting research on the art form.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Speaking on infrastructure development, Sawant revealed that the work order for the renovation of Margao's Ravindra Bhavan will be issued within a week, marking the beginning of comprehensive repair and upgrade works. Similar initiatives are also planned for Ravindra Bhavans in Curchorem, Sanquelim, Canacona, and Vasco, aimed at enhancing cultural spaces across the State.
GOA BHAVANS
In a significant move to support Goan pilgrims and strengthen cultural ties, Chief Minister disclosed that the State government has acquired land in Ayodhya to construct a ‘Ram Bhavan’.
"From next year, Goans visiting Ayodhya will have the facility to stay at the Bhavan at 50 per cent of the cost," he stated.
Additionally, the government is exploring land acquisition in Velankanni, a major pilgrimage site, to build a similar Goa Bhavan. “This will ensure a dedicated place to stay for Goan devotees and reinforce our spiritual and cultural connection with the holy city,” Sawant said.
HOLOGRAM STICKERS
Sawant also announced that the government is set to introduce hologram stickers on all Goa-manufactured liquor brands within the next two to three months. The tendering process for the initiative is already underway, he said.
Sawant emphasized that the move aims to curb the sale of illicit liquor and ensure greater transparency in the excise system. "We will not allow any illegalities. Strict action will be taken against violators," he stated.
MAJOR PROJECTS
Chief Minister also informed that infrastructure projects worth Rs 480 crore are currently being executed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC). These include the new IPHB building, Phase II of Joggers Park in Chicalim, and the Directorate of Higher Education building.
“Additionally, projects worth Rs 206 crore, including the construction of the Ports Department building, have been taken up and are progressing steadily,” he added.
