From mimicking cartoon characters in college to making dark comedy skits and beatboxing videos on Instagram, Vipul Sawant’s journey as a content creator has been shaped by his love for performance and his unique style. The Ponda-based wellness counselling graduate now spends hours each day creating relatable, offbeat content that connects with audiences while staying true to his own values.
The start
I first began with mimicry. Back in 2021–2022, I used to mimic popular cartoon characters. This made me popular among my classmates and friends. At that time, I wasn’t recording or posting online – it was just for fun and performed live for my circle.
Later, I got a chance to perform on stage at a college event. It was my first time performing in front of such a big audience, and that experience sparked the idea that I could do well in content creation.
Another thing I enjoyed and still continue with is beatboxing. Even though I now make comedy skits, I haven’t stopped beatboxing. I often collaborate with others and post these performances online, along with my comedy. These are the two main types of content I share with my audience.
That’s how my journey grew – from performing for friends, classmates and family to performing for a wider audience on my Instagram page.
Type of comedy
I grew up around people who liked adult and dark comedy, and personally, I enjoy that genre the most. So many of my skits are based on that style. When I started, I felt such content wasn’t easily available in Goa, so I decided to fill that gap with my videos.
My audience appreciates what I create and shows a lot of support. Sometimes, a relative might suggest I try more family-friendly content, but this type of comedy is what I truly enjoy, and my audience also connects with it. My aim isn’t to create shock value – I just want to give my viewers something they can relate to.
Behind the scenes
I spend around 3–4 hours a day working on my page. I don’t post daily, but there’s a lot of background work – conceptualising ideas, planning resources, shooting, and editing. Conceptualising usually takes the most time.
I mostly take help from my friends to play different characters, depending on who is available. Editing also takes some effort, but I enjoy the process.
I don’t follow trends because my audience prefers unique and relatable content. I try to bring a different perspective rather than copying what’s already popular.
Future plans
I want to keep creating and growing my page. Right now, opportunities in Goa are limited, but I hope things improve. My goal is to continue making this kind of content while also monetising it through brand collaborations.
I have already done brand deals where I integrated content with a brand identity in a way that was fun for my audience and useful for the brand. Since my content connects well with people, it works for both sides.
Advice to newcomers
For anyone wanting to start content creation, my advice is: first, identify what you are truly interested in. Choose something you can keep doing consistently. If you cannot create regularly, your initial effort may not grow into something long-term. Pick something you enjoy and can dedicate time to, so you don’t feel burnt out later.
Even though I create dark and adult comedy, I never promote harmful habits. I believe creators have a responsibility towards their audience. Once, an alcohol brand approached me for promotion, but I declined as it didn’t match my values or my page’s image. It’s important to take responsibility and avoid influencing people negatively, even if it means saying no to money.

Also, work on your strengths and skills, because they can make you more consistent and help you grow faster. When you build on what you’re already good at, it becomes easier to stay motivated and improve over time.
