LONDON

The United Goans Affiliation UK Ltd will host its inaugural opening ceremony on October 30 at the Cranford Community College, Hounslow, from 3 pm to 9 pm.

The programme will begin with a Eucharistic celebration by Fr Patrick D'Souza and Fr Feroz Fernandes, followed by cultural entertainment comprising DJ Frank and The Rifter's band. There will also be Bingo (housie) and Raffles. There will be a food stall by Luiza's Kitchen, while the bar will be run by the association.

“During the event, the logo of the new association will be blessed and the aims and objectives of the new registered UGA UK will be presented to the audience. There will also be a drive to register new members,” said UGA UK President Michael Bevan D’Silva.

Entry is free and the organisers have invited Goans in the UK to attend the event.

D’Silva said the UGA UK was recently set up with the purpose to serve the Goans and their families in the UK and to facilitate, support, energise, motivate, empower and help each other in any possible way

One of the priorities of the UGA UK is to establish a ‘Community Centre’, with a view to promote Goan traditions.

“In the UK, our plan is to get all Goans to actively participate, to assist everyone with a vision to work as a team for the much-needed causes and needs arising on a day-to-day basis, and in particular during crisis that we may encounter,” says D’Silva.
