MARGAO: Margao lit up with festive cheer on Saturday evening as the Comunidade Square, next to the Margao Municipal building, was beautifully decorated with lights and lanterns to welcome Diwali. The initiative, organised by Model Margao under the leadership of Yogiraj Kamat, son of PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, has turned the square into a lively festive spot. Along with the decorations, the event also includes a selfie contest with attractive prizes for participants.
After the inauguration, attended by PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, Margao Civic Chief Damu Shirodkar, councillors and citizens, Yogiraj Kamat told the media that the selfie contest is open to people from Margao and across Goa. Participants can click a selfie at the illuminated venue and share it on social media. The selfies with the highest likes and shares will win prizes to be announced on October 31 during the Akash Kandil competition at Colmorod.
