VASCO: The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Goa State Branch, held its State Installation Ceremony at BITS Goa on Sunday, where Dr Sharada Mulgaonkar Patil was formally installed as the new president. The event was attended by senior doctors, former IMA office-bearers and other guests. After taking charge, Dr Patil announced the theme for her term, “Embracing Neurodiversity – Together We Care, Connect and Champion.” She said neurodiversity is a natural difference in how the human brain works and stressed the need for a caring and inclusive approach in healthcare. She said people with conditions such as autism, ADHD and learning disabilities often face problems in getting proper medical care. Doctors, she added, must ensure that services are sensitive, easy to access and inclusive. Health Secretary Yetindra Maralkar, IAS, and BITS Goa Dean Meenal Kaushik were present at the ceremony along with senior members of the medical community.
