PANAJI: Veteran journalist Derek Almeida will be the next guest in the Goa Union of Journalists’ (GUJ) monthly programme, Behind The Byline – Know Your GUJ Member, on June 5. The event will be held at 4 pm at the GUJ Hall, Shram Shakti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, where Almeida will be in conversation with Nida Sayed, Principal Correspondent of The Times of India.
Born in Tanzania, Almeida completed his schooling in Belgaum before graduating in science. He began his journalism career with O Heraldo in 1985 and spent over three decades in the profession, retiring as Editor of The Goan Everyday in 2017.
During his distinguished career, Almeida held senior editorial positions at Gomantak Times, The Navhind Times and Goa 365. Known for his humour column Footloose, he continues to contribute to literature and recently launched his debut graphic novel. He is currently working on a crime mystery novel.
