MARGAO: The Office of the Collector and District Magistrate, South Goa, along with the Village Panchayat of Chinchinim-Deussua, has announced new road safety and traffic management measures in the Panchayat area.

As part of efforts to improve public safety, ease traffic flow and raise awareness among road users, the Panchayat will install trapezoidal speed breakers on Baida Road near ICICI Bank and on the internal road at Dandeavaddo to slow down vehicles and reduce accidents.

Zebra crossings will be marked on the Dandeavaddo internal road for pedestrian safety, and no parking zones will be clearly marked to prevent congestion and keep traffic moving. Separate parking spaces for two-wheelers and four-wheelers will be provided.

Signboards restricting the entry of heavy vehicles on narrow and residential roads will be put up at key locations including Chinchinim church junction towards Dandeavaddo, the Deussua bypass towards Orlim, Dandeavaddo junction towards NH66, and near Chinchinim cemetery towards Orlim road.

Speed limit signboards will be placed to enforce a 40 kmph limit from Crown Service Station, Bamado, and near Dr Trevy Coutinho’s clinic. ‘School Ahead’ signboards will also be placed 20 metres before schools to alert drivers and protect children. Sarpanch Frank Viegas said these steps have been taken in the public interest to make roads safer and better organised in the village and urged all residents, commuters and visitors to cooperate to help these measures succeed.
