Shivrajyabhishek is celebrated in Maharashtra's Raigad every year on June 6 to mark the anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's coronation ceremony. The day is celebrated across the country as well, with various events and programmes. However, this year due to the pandemic, the celebration will be mostly virtual. The State of Goa has a close bond with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and to pay a tribute, a short film, ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shivrajyabhishek (Coronation) Din’ will be released online on June 6 at the hands of Goa’s Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant at 10 am. Also, floral tributes will be paid at the prominent statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj across the State. At Sankhali the floral tribute will be paid by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, while at Bicholim, Speaker Rajesh Patnekar will offer flowers to the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. There are statues at Korgao Pernem, Municipal Garden at Valpoi, Opp Hanuman Temple in Mapusa, at Farmagudi Village Panchayat Bandora in Ponda Taluka, at Housing Board Gogol in Margao and at Carriammoddi in Curchorem.
